Teamnet Group and Orange Romania, part of NEXES project for research and development of emergency services in Europe

Bucharest, July 8th, 2015 – Teamnet Group, one of the most important IT&C integrators in the region, and Orange Romania will contribute to the implementation of a project for the research and development of next-generation emergency services in Europe. The two companies are part of a recognized international consortium which will develop the NEXES Action (Next Generation Emergency Services).

NEXES aims to innovate the emergency services in Europe, through the research and development of advanced IP-based communication systems and technologies. Therefore, the European project which will be implemented between 2015 and 2018, aims to enable the integrated communication in emergency situations, including channels such as social media, the exploitation of location information systems to rapidly and effectively identify and locate emergency situations and the increase of the interoperability of IT emergency systems at European level.

Within the project, Orange will ensure the expertise and communication infrastructure based on which Teamnet will develop and integrate software services for the applications dedicated to the emergency services at national level. Thus, aside from voice calls, it will also be possible to send multimedia messages, providing access to citizens and officials of healthcare institutions on any type of device such as smartphone or tablet to intervene in the shortest time possible in an emergency situation.

NEXES offers support for the EU objectives to develop a universal system for the management of emergency services at European level. The project will manage the exploitation of broad communication and location information systems in order to offer citizens next-generation services, at highest standards, for a safer society.

Coordinated by RINICOM, leader in broadband wireless communication services and surveillance systems in the UK, in partnership with the Police And Crime Commissioner For West Yorkshire (United Kingdom) the NEXES consortium combines the solid expertise and broad competencies in the development of innovative technologies and solutions of 17 public and private organisations in 10 European countries. Teamnet and Orange are the only companies in Romania part of the recognized international consortium, together with the Ambulance and Emergency Physicians Association (Turkey), Aimtech (United Kingdom), Azienda Regionale Emergenza Urgenza (Italy), Ministero Dell’interno (Italy), Deveryware (France), European Union of the Deaf (Belgium), Institute Of Communication And Computer Systems (Greece), Insta (Finland), Omnitor (Sweden), Police University College (Finland), Préfecture de Police (France), Telekom Slovenia (Slovenia) and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).

The NEXES objective is to research and validate the integration and interoperability of IP communication technologies for next-generation emergency services.
