Teamnet develops advanced solutions for the management of services executed with NFC technology

Bucharest, September 3rd 2015 Teamnet Group, one of the leading IT&C integrators in the region, develops advanced solutions in the NFC (Near Field Communication) segment, by which it encourages increasing the adoption of this type of technology in Romania. The company currently develops a Trusted Service Manager integrated technology platform that will support the suppliers to provide consumers with NFC-based services easier and faster.

The platform developed by Teamnet aims to integrate, in a single point, the services provided by entities such as banks, chain stores, mobile network operators or carriers and mediates the access and management of payment instruments available to consumers.

Bogdan Padiu, Founder and CEO TeamNet Group“Teamnet’s initiative comes in the global trends context of developing NFC technology in recent years. This platform will optimize the way we use NFC technology, providing the business community and consumers with a complex ecosystem for turning the mobile devices into intelligent tools for interaction within the NFC services, such as those for payment, transport or access control. The solution will free the companies from the management of technical services and will allow them to focus on core activities. At the same time, through the adoption of this platform by the companies, consumers will benefit from the experience of the NFC technology as an alternative method of payment and communication.”

This initiative is the result of an extensive research and innovation project – “Development of a technological platform of providing services executed with the NFC technology” – held between September 2013 and September 2015 and financed through the Sectoral Operational Programme for Increasing Economic Competitiveness.

By 2018, the number of mobile phones equipped with the NFC technology is expected to reach 1.9 billion worldwide, compared to 278 million last year, according to a survey conducted by IDATE research company in 2014. At the same time, the value of transactions made through the NFC technology will increase up to 53.8 billion euros in the next three years. In Romania, a GfK study shows that 10% of consumers are already paying with the mobile phone, and 27% say they are interested in this alternative payment method.

The service delivery platform based on NFC technology will be technically completed in September 2015.

Teamnet annually invests over 10% of its turnover in research and development.
