The European Commission has nominated the application developed by TeamNet in Top 3 IT solutions dedicated to the elderly

MobileSageBucharest, August 29th, 2013 – The MobileSage project, developed by TeamNet within an international consortium, has been selected among the three finalist of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Award 2013, which is the programme of the European Commission rewarding the newest systems for providing dedicated services and care to the elderly.

The project is financed by the European Union through the AAL programme and co-financed by the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation.

MobileSage consists in the development of an IT solution providing assistance for using the new technologies employed in daily activities. The application enables the provision of customised information, in a manner adapted both to user’s profile (for instance, if the user is visually impaired, than it can use the audio version) and to the context (for instance, a walk in Madrid’s city centre, 12:00 PM, summer, 30°Celsius).

TeamNet, the only IT Company within the consortium, handled the development of Mobile Sage application, starting from the analysis phase, to test and pilot phases. Also, it developed the mobile version of the application (Help on Demand) and performed the integration with the customization API.

„The interest for such applications is increasingly high, thus we estimate that, after three years from the completion of the project, at least 20% of the elderly population from the countries involved in the project and at least 10% of the other European countries shall use the solution,” said Bogdan Padiu, CEO TeamNet.

Currently, the project is in the final stage of its development cycle, stage which has the purpose to test the version developed on representative samples of 10-15 elderly people in Romania, Norway and Spain.

„The participation within the consortium comes as a result of TeamNet’s expertise, which is internationally recognized,” added Bogdan Padiu. „Research-development projects represent a very important strategic direction for us. The fact that through them we have the chance to improve the lives of citizens around the world honors us and motivates us to go further.”

The consortium that developed this project consists of seven companies from Romania, Norway, Spain and Great Britain. The project shall be finalized during 2014 and will then be publicly available.  It will work on any smartphone, regardless of its operating system.
